These times call for radical leadership rooted in love and courage.
Many of us ache to bring our unique gifts forward in service of more equitable, compassionate, and regenerative systems. We know things can’t continue as they are, but the path forward isn’t always clear and it’s easy to get in our own way.
As humans, we receive endless messages about how we should or shouldn’t be, and how our leadership should or shouldn’t look. The struggle to successfully navigate patriarchal systems to create meaningful change is exhausting. We are often left feeling alone, depleted, and caught in a cycle of striving, self-doubting, self-sacrificing, and either burning out or numbing out. Most of us are using a fraction of our true power and wisdom, while being crushed by unrealistic standards and expectations.
When we start to access more authentic ways of being and leading, it feels vulnerable, risky, and outright counter-cultural. It takes great courage to unearth our real superpowers for good, those rooted in each of our life journeys, identities, wisdom, and presence. This unique Camino experience invites you into a journey of reclaiming your unique gifts so you can have greater impact with less struggle and fear. You will access forgotten sources of wisdom and joy and cultivate the courage to bring more of your voice and presence forward in service of positive change.
During our 11 days together, we will explore the stages of the heroine’s journey, and how the archetypes of the Conformist, the Rebel, and the Radical illuminate our own growth edges. We will draw inspiration from radical women from the Iberian Peninsula and around the world and touch into a long lineage of seekers and change-makers who have walked this same path for millennia. The Camino de Santiago is best known as a Christian pilgrimage, but it actually began much earlier. It was first known as Via Finisterre, meaning “The Way to the Land’s End” in Latin. The original Celtic peoples of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) traveled it ceremonially as far back as 1,000 B.C., and before them indigenous pagans celebrated rituals along a route guided by the Milky Way.
As we walk each day, we will metaphorically carve our own path toward greater freedom, authenticity, and effectiveness in the spaces we inhabit, such that this complex and suffering world will more fully benefit from our greatest gifts.
If you feel the call, don’t wait! The time is now. Your light is needed!
Maria is thrilled to be co-guiding with her dear Camino and Improv Sister, Gin Walker! This has been a dream in the making! Maria and Gin have walked the Camino twice together (2022 & 2023) and conspired to alchemize their unique gifts and talents into a radical experience.
As a Transformational Wilderness Guide and Ceremony and Rites of Passage Facilitator, Maria invites magic and mystery to interplay with the universal "monomyth" of the Heroine's Journey (a woman's perspective on the Hero's Journey). A pilgrim on this journey herself, she is learning firsthand the stages and phases of this mythic path in order to support others who feel the call to enter into a transformational Rite of Passage.
Gin Walker is an actor, writer, and story coach for creatives and educators who want to connect more deeply with their wholeness, and allow the truest, fullest expression of themselves in everything they do.
Gin is originally from England, and has lived in Denver, Colorado for 12 years. She loves to travel and has explored her connection with Mama Earth in many lands. Her two previous Camino experiences, while incredibly different, were both utterly transformative, and she can’t wait to help co-create a nourishing, supportive container through which others’ journeys can be held in May.
